Hydromaster

Well Mounted
Azimuth Thrusters

Compact inboard propulsion with flexible drive options for a wide range of vessels

Hydromaster’s Well Mounted Azimuth Thrusters offer an inboard propulsion solution to provide high thrust for optimal manoeuvrability.

Propulsion configuration

Available in Z-drive configuration with horizontal prime mover, such as a diesel engine or a horizontal electric motor. This setup is compact, robust, and suited for a wide range of vessels including tugs, pushboats, offshore support vessels, ferries, fire-fighting vessels, survey vessels, and military craft. Either with open propellers or ducted, proving maximum bollard pull. Hybrid options with double input shafts are available too.

Thrusters in L-drive configuration for vertical motors, either hydraulic or electric. Electric options include Permanent Magnet (PM) or squirrel cage induction motors, complete with variable speed drive and controls. Commonly used in hybrid and electric vessels with strict emission and/or acoustic limits like ferries and harbor crafts being progressively introduced as part of the decarbonization drive the industry finds itself in.

For both Z-drive and L-drive thrusters we offer the option of a flexible mount installation system, significantly reducing onboard vibrations and noise. This solution is ideal for passenger vessels, naval applications, research ships, and urban-area ferries operating under acoustic or comfort constraints.
