Argymak, the world’s largest self-propelled Air Cushion Barge

The Argymak is the world’s largest self-propelled Air Cushion Barge ever built on trials in the waters of the Caspian Sea. This is a rare project where propulsion is achieved by three large air fans, pushing the barge over land and shallow waters, while a set of two Hydromaster Series 5 Deck-Mounted Azimuth thrusters take over when the barge operates in deeper waters.

The barge, measuring 56m in length and spanning 24m wide, operates on a cushion of air. The two Azimuth Propulsion units rated 368 kW each, fully classed to RINA, are deployed for transit as well as enhancing the barge maneuverability.

Future-oriented and growth ambitions

Hydromaster has evolved and grown significantly over the years. Since 2015, we have operated under Dutch ownership. We’ve expanded our product range – adapting to changing needs such as hybrid and all-electric applications – modernized production, and evolved into a trusted propulsion partner for vessels owners across the globe.

As part of our international growth strategy, we established a local presence in Singapore in 2019 and recently in North America. With a growing presence and partner network across Europe, North America, and Asia, we continue to invest in the future of smart, reliable marine propulsion – built on expertise and always with a personal touch.
