London’s Woolwich Ferry showed its support for UK National Health Service workers on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic, by performing doughnuts in the River Thames on April 16. It’s very impressive to see how fast this 60-metre ferry is spinning – all thanks to the Hydromaster propulsion units installed on the boat.

Hydromaster also provided the counter frame on which the wheelhouse is fixed on the roof, along with stairs and railing. The unit is powered by a 198 kW radiator cooled John Deere engine and is controlled by a full follow up remote control system.

The Woolwich Ferry links Woolwich and North Woolwich. It’s free and carries pedestrians, cyclists, cars, vans and lorries. The ferry’s are operated by Briggs Marine and Environmental on behalf of TfL.

This vessel, operated by the Guyana Transport and Harbour Department, was recently outfitted with two HYDROMASTER Series 4 propulsion systems powered by two Caterpillar 3406 engines. Brenco Shipping and Trading Company Ltd executed all of the works on the vessel. Read more here
